I Am Legend is a sci-fi/Fantasy/Action/Adventure/Drama. It is rated PG-13 and runs an hour and 40 minutes. The plot of the movie is that years after a virus that was thought to be a cure for cancer has infected the human population and altered their DNA to turn them into raging monster like creatures and Colonel Robert Neville, played by Will Smith, seems to be the only normal human left.

Will Smith manages to carry the whole movie through, exhibiting his incredible talent as an actor. Will Smith does many of the scenes solo or with his dog, Sam. You watch the two of them do daily routines like hunt for food and supplies. Robert Neville has no one to talk to and the only glimpse you get of Neville's family and other people in the movie is in Neville's flashbacks to the night when New York was cut off from the world. Neville persistently works on finding a cure to the virus. Robert Neville seems to be alone but is he really?

It is action packed and gets your heart racing at moments. Will Smith has you sympathizing with Neville and at times even has you at the brink of tears. Sam may be a dog but she has you rooting for her and Neville to make it all the way through. You fall in love with Sam. The only thing I found off about the movie is that if you read the book you would instantly see the differences. The plot has their similarities but you can see the artistic differences in the monsters and the end. The background was very visually stimulating. The colors were bright and you could see the detail the put into creating the city. The soundtrack was very chill and mellow with many Bob Marley songs inserted. It kept the vibe of the movie upbeat even though at times you felt like everything was over. Overall the movie was very enjoyable and recommended for an older audience. Some scenes might be too violent for younger viewers. I'm looking forward to the DVD in hopes that they will include deleted scenes.

Will Smith is an excellent actor indeed. I always catch his new movie whenever it came out in the theater so of course how could I possibly miss The Legend. Even though I was skeptical at first as some of my friends who have watched it before me said that it was not up to their expectation. However, I found it to be a great movie packed with action, a little suspense and emotional scenes that kept me on my seat the entire time. Though the incident that happened to the dog and the ending caught me by surprise. I, too, can not wait until this movie come out on DVD so I can watch it again.

Hopefully it'll be on sale soon. Yeah, I knew many people who didn't want to watch it because they thought it wouldn't be up to par with the book. But I still think it was good on it's own. You have to take these things and look at them separately. The director and writers are always going to take things in different directions. Thanks for you input!

Excellent post! You did a great job explaining the movie without giving away spoilers. Will Smith is my favorite actor and like you said he did an awesome job in "I am Legend." I went and saw this movie opening night, and again the following day because I enjoyed it so much. It was very surprising and suspensful which was great because you had no idea what to expect next. Even the ending was unpredictable which is something I love to find in movies. I, also hope the DVD includes deleted scenes and I can't wait for it to come out. I know it was recently sill showing in theaters so it may be a while before it is released.

Thank you, I tried very hard to not spoil the movie for anyone. Smith is one of my favorites too, I feel he's able to play any role. He can be funny, serious, an action hero. He's always up for the challenge and he owns his characters. Yeah, the ending was good but still a downer. Hopefully that DVD will be out very soon!!

I really enjoyed your review! This movie was great; it was so suspenseful and kept you wondering until the very end. I think that because a lot of the scenes were done solo, it really shined a light on Will's acting. He showed every emotion to the audience and because of his superior acting skills, every emotion was so believable. When he cried, it made the audience cry, when he got angry the audience got angry. I loved his acting; however I wasn't too pleased with the over all plot of the movie. I really feel that if Will wasn't in the movie it would have been horrible. Well maybe that word is too harsh. I just think that only he could have pulled of that messy plot because Will makes you fall in love with his character and because of that, you don't care how bad the storyline really is.

It really did keep you on edge. At many times I wanted to react aloud but I didn't want anyone else in the audience to get annoyed. lol. I think Will really showed his skills as an actor and was able to keep the audience entertained when he was doing most of the scenes alone. It's already a hard task to keep the audience captivated when there's numerous famous actors in it. Yeah, the storyline did seem kind of scattered all over the place but it still was enjoyable!
